Survey of government scientists and engineers

The Government Office for Science has launched the first ever survey of scientists and engineers working in the civil service.

The Government Office for Science has launched the first ever survey of scientists and engineers working in the civil service. The survey aims to:

  • learn more about the government science and engineering professional community and
  • collect views on the implications of the civil service reform plan for science and engineering in government.

The survey was developed with help from the heads of profession network. It is intended to provide evidence to inform the future development of the GSE community and help strengthen the role and status of scientists and engineers across government.

It is part of a wider GoScience review of the GSE profession, which Prospect supports and on which the union being consulted.

Prospect head of research Sue Ferns urged members in the relevant areas to complete the survey and consider joining the government scientists and engineers' network.

GSE is a self-nominating community which has over 3,000 members from more than 30 different government organisations.
