Science Museum Group Branch highlights effects of redundancies at National Museums

Prospect's Science Museum Group has written to the Museums Journal in relation to their story "National Redundancies top 400 mark since 2010" which featured in the Journal in March 2013.

In its March issue the Museums Journal highlighted that there had been 402 redundancies at National Museums in the 2010 to 2012 period. The Science Museum Group Branch Committee wanted to highlight just how this figure was rising, and the fact that skilled workers with many years’ experience were being lost and not replaced - adding to the increasingly large workloads of those who are left.

The Museums Journal will be publishing a shorter version of the letter in its June issue.  The full version can be found at http://library.prospect.org.uk/id/2013/00751?_ts=50274
