Members at the National Library Of Wales to stage a lunchtime walkout over pay

Prospect members at the National Library of Wales will be taking industrial action short of a strike on Wednesday 15 October, along with members of PCS and FDA.

Staff will stage a walkout by clocking off for their full lunchbreak between 11.45 and 2.15. A short rally will be held outside the Library building at 12pm. The industrial action will close one of the Library’s reading rooms and severely restrict service in the other.

The industrial action is part of an ongoing dispute over demands for a consolidated pay rise and payment of the Living Wage to all staff.

Staff at the National Library have not received a pay rise since 2009. A number of those on the lowest pay bands earn less than the Living Wage, and a significant number earn just a penny more than the £7.65 Living Wage hourly rate.

The latest round of industrial action follows strike action by members of all three unions on 10 September and a lunchtime protest on 24 September.
