In particular, members wanted assurances that should there be a delay in work transferring that required an ongoing, albeit temporary presence in the UK , this would be provided by UK-based employees rather than extending working arrangements for colleagues from outside of the UK.

Prospect raised our principled objections to any such proposals that did not prioritise extending UK-based employment for members direct with Ericsson and made it clear that we would challenge any such plans.

Ericsson has responded with the assurance that the transfer of service will take place as planned on 30 November 2010. As such, arrangements for permanent and temporary redeployment plus voluntary severance packages will continue to apply, including Short Term Assignments starting shortly. Ericsson has also confirmed that GSC employees UK-based work will conclude on or before 30 November 2010 also.
