Pledge to march for an alternative

The TUC has launched a new website http://marchforthealternative.org.uk/ to help co-ordinate the march for jobs, growth and justice in London on March 26.

The march will call for an alternative to the coalition government's plans for fast, deep cuts to public spending.

The TUC is appealing to individuals who are coming to sign a pledge http://action.goingtowork.org.uk/page/signup/marchforthealternative and add their reasons for coming. The target is to reach 100,000 pledges.

Getting a huge turnout on the streets of London will demonstrate to the government that if they don't change course, there will be a very real political price to pay for the damage they're wreaking on British society.

Anyone who signs up will also receive regular updates on the campaign.

The march will begin forming up at 11am, on Embankment, between Temple Place and Blackfriars. Details are still subject to change, but the current plan is to pass Parliament and Trafalgar Square and Piccadilly Circus, before entering Hyde Park at Hyde Park Corner.

Prospect is encouraging members to march with the union's banner, and will be circulating travel arrangements soon.
