To coincide with the event, Prospect's National Trust branch choose Tredegar house as the location for its June branch executive committee meeting, and ran a recruitment drive.
Tredegar is a beautiful and hugely significant acquisition by the National Trust. The TUPE transfer of staff from the local authority to the National Trust is equally significant for the staff involved, and they fully understood the need for membership of the Trust's recognised union, Prospect.
"I think our visit to Tredegar was really well received," said National Trust branch organiser Mandy Garrick. "As most of the staff came from the local authority, they were already aware of the benefits of being trade union members.
"The team at Tredegar seem positive, despite the property going through some changes, and all seem keen to work hand in hand with Prospect.
"The recruitment drive was hugely successful. We were made to feel very welcome by the property team and there was a lot of interest from the staff at every level. We met the new Property Manager Joanna Cartwright and the ADO Adam Ellis Jones. Many people joined on the day, the staff and management at Tredegar gave us a warm welcome and we would like to thank them all for their hospitality.
"We hope to see Prospect's membership base at Tredegar grow from strength to strength."
