Public invited to comment on government science policy

The Science and Technology Committee have launched a new 'evidence check' forum asking for members of the public and experts to scrutinise four government-provided evidence papers underpinning science policies.

The evidence checks cover the following policies:

Innovation in, and accelerated access to, healthcare

Smart meters

Digital government

Flexible working and facilitating working away from the office.

Committee chair Nicola Blackwood said the four policy areas would be added to in the coming months, adding: " I hope that these evidence checks will prove a valuable way to examine how the government uses evidence to make policy and I would encourage everyone — whether experts in the fields or not — to send us their thoughts and insights."

The deadline for public comment, to be contributed via bit.ly/Gov-evidence-based is 29 January.
