Responding to Jeremy Corbyn's speech setting out that Labour supports continued UK membership of Euratom and other EU agencies, Prospect senior deputy general secretary Sue Ferns said:
“European agencies like Euratom and the European Aviation Safety Agency play a vital role in ensuring high standards and enabling collaboration in key sectors of our economy. Membership of these agencies works for Britain and it makes absolutely no sense to leave, which is why maintaining membership is one of the main points on Prospect’s Brexit checklist.
“Labour’s commitment to maintain membership of Euratom and other agencies is a positive move towards a more sensible Brexit that protects our economy, our rights and our future.
"There is a clear majority in the House of Commons to keep us in key European agencies like Euratom, it is time for the government to listen to the experts in the nuclear and aviation industries and match Labour’s commitment.”
