Positive feedback from Local Reps Training Day

We have received very positive feedback from reps, and potential reps, who attended our Local Reps Training Day (LRTD) on 29 June, 2018.

Training day

This annual event is an opportunity to bring together active members in the Education and Children’s Group (ECSG) with full-time officers to share information and good practice, develop skills and to network.

The theme this year, which was led by Steve Thomas, national secretary, and Chris Manning, negotiations executive, was “effective consultation and communication”.

Following an update on the Soulbury pay claim, we introduced some of the work that Prospect and the ECSG is doing on public policy matters, including in education.

We talked about how we can support effective local campaigning in the workplace and, considering the wide range of advisers, officers and managers that have joined in the last quarter, what recruitment opportunities we have as a non-teacher focussed education professionals union.

In addition, we ran sessions on the plans of the ESCG Group Executive to explain our priorities for continuing to provide the support that members need when they are at work and with their careers, as well as addressing wider policy concerns over the next 18 months.

This is an annual day and we hope that we will see both old reps return and more new reps or interested members attend next time!

If you are unsure if you have a local rep and would be interested in finding out how you can help the union in any capacity please get in touch with your Negotiations Executive or contact us email: [email protected]
