The resignation of Andrea Leadsom from her role as Leader of the House of Commons must not mean that important work on safeguarding staff and modernising the parliamentary estate is left to fall by the wayside, Prospect has warned.
As Leader of the House, Leadsom had responsibility for the new bullying and harassment policy in the Commons as well as the Restoration and Renewal Bill.
Prospect deputy general secretary Garry Graham said:
“Andrea Leadsom’s resignation must not distract from the essential work on bullying and harassment of parliamentary staff where there has been some welcome progress.
"It is vital that this work continues and that the government doesn’t drop the ball on the programme of restoring the Palace of Westminster and keeping staff safe."
