The union has now responded to the announcement by BT that they will be reviewing the company’s Reorganisation Policy and the Redundancy Terms contained therein. You will find a copy of your union’s letter by clicking here.
You will see that your union is pushing the company to be open about their intentions over the next couple of weeks. We believe that this will then allow meaningful negotiations to take place over the coming months and provide space for a proper evaluation of proposals being made by the company. As Prospect have already made clear, we believe the current Redundancy Terms were part of a commitment made to members by BT when the company decided to close the pension scheme. Therefore, to seek to change the terms after only two years does not appear justified. Indeed, the Reorganisation Policy has been instrumental in ensuring that compulsory redundancies have been avoided at a time of wide-scale changes brought about by the People Framework.
Your union will keep you updated as the negotiations progress on this issue. However, we will also need your support in this endeavour. You can do this by following us on Workplace on the links below. Furthermore, if you know a colleague who is not a union member then please share our communications with them and urge them to join Prospect. Quite simply, the more members we have, the stronger your voice.
